FC "Mandeville" Brakes (DIY big brakes)
The Mandeville big brake setup for the FC RX7—an affordable DIY big brake kit engineered to deliver maximum braking performance, exceptional modularity, and factory-grade fit and finish. Named in honor of Roger Mandeville's groundbreaking work on brake systems for the 3rd generation RX7, this kit pays homage to his legacy while offering a modern twist.
The kit utilizes a relocation bracket to radially move the caliper, accompanied by spacers and longer bridge bolts to widen the slot for the rotor. With 2” larger rotors and an additional ¼” of thickness, this setup significantly boosts thermal mass and enhances resistance to fading. Users will need to provide donor calipers and procure their own rotors, with options ranging from basic blank setups to hardcore two-piece curved vane setups compatible with Brembo-equipped Nissan 350z rotors.
While inspired by Roger Mandeville's originals, our kit optimizes the balance between proper clearances and pad overhang. As such, users will need to conduct some grinding of the donor calipers, with detailed step-by-step instructions included. Please note that this product is designed for hobbyists with good attention to detail.
The Brake Kit includes:
- 2 Caliper relocation brackets (milled from 5/8" billet aluminum with key-locking steel inserts)
- 4 Caliper spacers (2 each, left and right)
- 4 O-rings (for spacer to caliper sealing)
- 8 Upsized bridge bolts (zinc-plated flange heads)
- 2 Wheel spacers (to account for decreased rotor thickness)
- 4 Mounting bolts (caliper to bracket mounting)
- 4 Mounting bolts (knuckle to bracket mounting)
- 8 “Nordlock” washers
Users must provide:
- Donor 4 piston calipers
- 350z rotors of your choice (for Brembo equipped cars)
